It was a work in progress as noted by "living workbook" All information should be documented by researchers]

Please do not take the various letters as "gospel". Please don't relay this information as fact without documentation. Many wrong things are now being circulated on the net which will be hard to eliminate even with correct documentation. Even items on this file might be wrong. I encourage any corrections and submissions. If you use this file, please do not incorporate information into your files without crediting the sources especially when you copy the notes word for word. One of the things that upsets me the most is seeing my words, word for word without any acknowledgement. Please credit all sources!
Name also in records as Josias. Researcher Robert Perry Cason has Josias dying 15 Jan 1794.
Researcher Sherron L. has Josias with daughters Susanna, b. 1727 and Frances, b. 1734; also son William, born 1731. She doesn't have an Apphia listed.
Josias received a land grant in 1751 of 404 acres from King George of England. Located in Brunswick Co, VA.
Rev. Charles L. Randle in his manuscript "The John Randle Family" has Josias married to Margaret Jennings. This was found in another source [Bodie] and was corrected later by the author. Margaret Jennings was married to Nicholas Randle/Randolph. [My note - as of 03 Jan 2004, researchers believe that Nicholas Randle/Randolph was married to Margaret REDDISH. A marriage record has been found plus the will of Margaret's father lists her as Margaret Randle and also mentions Nicholas Randle/Randolph. Margaret Jennings Hill Randle seems to be related somehow to Josias Randle of Lunenburg. Josias is found listed as a tithable of her son William Hill in Lunenburg]
Several letters included in the Randle book by Sam and Dorothy Randle have this Josias Randle with children:
Peter, b. 1723, married Frances Barrett
Josias, b. 1725, married Jane Proctor [******** I currently have this Josias as the son of John]
Peter is said to have moved to Montgomery Co, NC ab. 1773-1775 with Ledbetters, other Randles, Tillmans, Davidson, Quincys, Dunns, Johnson, Liftfoots, etc. Peter was a member of the State Legislature from Montgomery County, NC 1772-1782.
Others think this Peter Randle is the son of Joseph Randle and Amey Eston who was the son of William Randle/Randolph of Norfolk VA

The Josias RANDLE of Lunenburg was clearly associated with Clement READ who was appointed the administrator of the estate of Isaac Hill, the first husband of Margaret Jennings on 13 Jun 1734. Perhaps Margaret married Josias as her second husband?

Margaret Randle's signatures are both in the same handwriting while the others writing on the note was made by someone else. William Hill was one of the justices of Lunenburg Co at that time. Clement Read's wife was Mary Hill, whose mother is thought to have been Margaret Jennings who married Isaac Hill 28 Jul 1708 in Middlesex County, VA
