Text: Mollie L. Maroney married Floyd Franklin Phillips on 2 September 1916. Floyd was born 15 Sept 1889 in Smith County, TX, a son of Zachariah and Mary Ann [sic] (Fisher) Phillips, and was visiting the Gibson family at Post Oak when he met Mollie. After his return from service in World War I, Floyd and Mollie continued living in Post Oak. They were living on or near the Isaac Guest survey in Post Oak in 1920. Mollie was a member of Post Oak Methodist Church from the mid 'teens until she and Floyd moved away. Mollie was a steward in the church in 1915. She was also the Post Oak correspondent to the Blossom Bee in the early 'teens. She signed her column with a pseudonym, as was the custom in those days. Her column, entitled "Gantt Gossip," reveals her sense of humor, as does her pen name, Beauty. Mollie and Floyd were living in Wichita Falls, TX in 1938, and by 1949, they lived in Farris, Atoka County, OK. Mollie died in Byers, Borger County, TX on 28 January 1964, and Floyd died 10 October 1983 in Wichita Falls. They are buried in Byers Cemetery.
