Maroney, 86, passed away at his home at Post Oak Saturday (9 Apr 1949) morning about 10 o'clock after about 10 days illness. A native of Georgia, he had lived in that community 68 years, where he had engaged in farming, ginning and merchandising and was a member of the Methodist Church since he was 21. Services were conducted at Post Oak Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock with burial in Post Oak Cemetery. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Maroney of Brownfield and Mrs. Mollie Phillips of Farris, Okla.; a step-son, Olen Lee of Post Oak; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and 3 sisters, Mrs. Mandy Baucum, Pattonville; Mrs. Bernie Garrison, Kiomitia and Mrs. Lizzie Jones, Vernon and other relatives and a host of friends.' *Old double conrete marker with L. M. Maroney & she also has a single marker, which contains the complete dates shown here. Tombstone is inscribed, 'W. L. Maroney' with years of birth and death only.
