Mrs. Lucy V. Ingalsbe
Lucy Victoria Irish was born in Lake Shore, Canada, Sept. 19, 1867 and passed away May 7, 1948 at the home of her daughter, Margaret E. Faris in Baldwin Park, Calif. She was 80 years, seven months and 18 days of age. When she was three years old, she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jonithan Irish to New York State. When she was seven years old the Irish family moved to Wheaton, Kansas where she resided most of her life.
She was united in marriage to Edwin Seth Ingalsbe in the year of 1884 and to this union was born ten children. One child, Howard, died in infancy; Richard at the age of 15, and Edwin Seth Ingalsbe, Jr., lost his life in the battle of Normandy, July 10, 1944. Mrs. Ingalsbe is survived by seven children: Mrs. Ethel Adams of Baldwin Park, Calif.; Mrs. Mable Herneisen of Wamego; Lester Ingalsbe, Iowa; Roscoe and Marion Ingalsbe of Independence, Mo.; Mrs. Jean Valburg of Kennewick, Wash.; Mrs. Margaret Faris of Baldwin Park, Calif.; eight grandchildren, who are Elizabeth J. Adams of Chicago; Raymond Herneisen, Belvue, Chester Herneisen of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Lucile Lange of El Monte, Calif.; Nila Jean, Darrel and Ray Valburg, Jr. Richard, William and Barbara Ann Herneisen; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Campbell of Kennard, Nebr.; one brother, Eugene Irish, Topeka and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on May 9th at Baldwin Park Funeral Home. Mrs. Edith Adams and Mrs. Margaret Faris accompanied their mother’s body to Wheaton, Kansas for burial. Her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jonithan Irish were charter members of the Wheaton Congregational Church and early in her life she also became a member of that organization and has lived a devoted Christian life.
Services were conducted there at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 11th with the Rev. Scott officiating. The church quartet sang “In the Garden,” “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.” Burial was in the family lot at the Wheaton Cemetery.
