"Morgan G. Swain lived in Thomas Co., Ga. until he moved to Lowndes County in 1838. In Lowndes he became one of the first settlers of the new county site, Troupeville, where he operated the village blacksmithshop. Later he became owner and operator of Swain's Motel in Troupeville . He served as Justice of the Peace 1844-45-46 and 1849, was sheriff one term, 1842-44. He is buried in the cemetery of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, Brooks County, Ga.
