In memory of my Dad, Duell Franklin 'Frank' Beard who passed away 27 July 2009 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah. He loved his family and he also loved to do family history. I am sure going to miss you Daddy, love you always and forever. Also to my Aunt Helen, Daddy's sister (and other mother) who followed him just a month later, she missed her Toggy Boy...

FAMILY RECORDS: I have run across a number of people who say George was from Scotland and not Ireland. He could have been living in Northern Ireland at the time of his immgration to America and that could be how Ireland came to be his birth place in a lot of records. I still need more work to verify this information. Did they live in York County, Pennsylvania before coming to South Carolina???

FAMILY RECORDS: Family stories say that George and Margaret had two sons who died as P.O.W's of the British during the Revolutionary War, and both died of malnutrition, and George may have also fought and died during the Revolutionary War. I believe these two sons may have been Thomas and Andrew Elder. Seven of their children came to Kentucky through the Cumberland Gap in 1795, and their son, David Elder, died on the way, and was buried on the side of the road, somewhere near the Gap. One son, Samuel Elder, stayed in Spartanburg County, South Carolina where he died. Some of this information came from family records and the bible of John C. Elder, which was in the possession of Valanie Elder Clayton of Salem, Livingston County, Kentucky in 1978 when my Daddy, Frank Beard saw it.
