Analysis: Child Hannah is absorbed into Joshua & Millicent Reeves' family in this record, when in actual fact Hannah is daughter of Joshua and his first wife, Hannah, who died when little Hannah was born. The death dates of Benjamin, Job and their father also do not appear in this record. Contrast this record with the Salem Monthly Meeting record.

There are a few Hannah Wares in this record. The one most likely to be the wife of Joshua Reeve is Hannah, dob Jun 28, 1774, dau of Richard and Hannah Ware. Her age closely matches Joshua's and the others can be ruled out. One Hannah Ware died in 1765. The other Hannah married in 1781.

    Pat,

I found your references pertaining to Joshua Reeve and thought that you
might like to know that I found another Quaker reference from 1792, when
Mahlon Atkinson went from Greenwich (presumably, Gloucester County) to
Salem. Attached is a transcription of the document.

I am actually researching Asher Borden/Burden, who was also an apprentice at
    the same time.

    Regards,

    Julie Borden

To the Monthly Meeting of Friends at Salem -

    Dear Friends,

Out Certificate hath been requested on behalf of Mahlon Atkinson, who has removed to live within the confines of your Meeting, with his two Appretices, Asher Burden and Joshua Reeve. This may inform you that they have a right of Membership amongst us, their lives and conversations have been in a good degree orderly, frequently attended our Meetings for Worship and Discipline, and on enquiry we find that Mahlon has settles his outward affairs to Satisfaction, as far as appears.

As such, we recommend them to your Christian care and oversight and remain your Friends.

Subscribed in and on behalf of our Monthly Meeting of Greenwich this twenty-eighth day of the third month, one thousand ad seven hundred and ninety-two.

    Pat,

This appears to be a copy of an original document. The script is somewhat difficult to read. I found it at the Gloucester County Historical Society.

    Regards,

    Julie

    Julie --

Thank you kindly for the additional info on Joshua Reeve. Are you looking at original documents, or did you find this text in some reference work? I'm curious what other sources are out there in print that I should be aware of. I have a set of Hinshaw record books, plus some of the Encyclopedias of American Quaker Genealogy, also by Hinshaw.
