  • ID: I01879
  • Name: David M. Allen 1
  • Sex: M
  • Birth: ABT 1857 in (prob) Sevier County, Tennessee 2
  • Death: BEF 1910 in (prob) Poor Farm, Cocke County, Tennessee
  • Burial: Allen Family Cemetery, Jefferson County, Tennesee 3
  • Event: Tombstone Photo Unmarked but known
  • Event: Obituary No period papers at Cocke County library
  • Event: Death Certificate Not found in TSLA
  • Note:
A David Allen of the correct age appears in the State Prison in Nashville (Ward 15, page 461b). Absolutely no idea of this is the correct person.

Dave never married. After Polly Ann died, Ike Holt dumped him at the Poor Farm where he appears to have died soon thereafter. The Cocke County Poor Farm is currently assumed, although he may well have been in the Jefferson County Poor Farm. No record of him has been found among the very limited court records in either county.

A 1912 death certificate in Jefferson County shows a 60-year-old Dave Allen who died of consumption on 5 February 1912 in the 11th District. This Dave was listed as married andis presumably not the same man.
