"Lewis was a cowboy who raised and sold catle. He sold all his cattle and became a Missionary Baptist Preacher, traveling from town to town. He was an evangelist; a preacher who conducts revival services. In 1916 his second wife Texas died and was buried in Boswell, Oklahoma. In January of 1930, at 71 years of age, he began to be afflected with mental problems and lapses of short term memory similar to Alzheimer's disease. Lewis would wander off and become disoriented and become lost. One account of this time indicated the family resorted to placing Lewis on a long rope tied to the porch so he would get lost. In May of 1930 his son Edward committed him to the Eastern State Hospital in Vinita, Oklahoma where he lived for 7 years died. (Bob Tees, Decendants of Louis Large, page 1).
