RESIDENCE: Came from Deerfield, NH [WTHp37] and "Bought land June 16 1802 [WTHp37/Child's Gazetteer,p360]. He also bought 19 acres in Div 3 in Great Lot 46, Oct 29 1799." [WTHp37] Where "in 1805 he settled a farm west of the school house at Walden Depot" on what is now Rte 15 [WTH/Beers Map/Child's Gazetteer,p360]; half-way between the Town Clerk office and what is now called Sawmill Rd In 1814 he built the house where J I Chase lived in 1887 [WTHp37, quoting Child] on rd 42 [Child's], now Vt Rte 15.
WILL: Died intestate Widow appointed administratrix Dec 22 1827 [Probate Recs (10:499)] Widow appointed "Guardian of Hiram Perkins, Mary Perkins, and Roxanna Perkins, children and minor heirs of Joseph Perkins, late of said Walden deceased," on Dec 23 1828 [Probate Recs (10:501)] Jan 22 1829 Administratrix' account of the estate presented to the Court: included, "pd Capt Eddy's acct $5.65" [Probate Recs (10:502)] His estate (according to the inventory filed 1828 [Probate Recs (10:499)] included, "Home Farm, $700.00; Farm "where Merrill lives", $280.00;... Cash, $20.00;... Pew in the Meeting House No. 5, $24.00; Total $1828.00" "The Admx is charged with the amount of the Inventory of $1828.00 Deduct Real Estate & pew in M[eeting] H[ouse] $1004.00; add for grain not included in the footing of the inventory $48.34; The Admx has credit of $872.34; for her acctg this day allowed $206.36; for articles consumed in family $156.25;... leaving $509.73 consisting of sundry articles of personal property out of which there is hereby assigned to Mrs Hannah Perkins, widow of said deceased, the sum of $309.73 as her own property, goods, and chattels, leaving the sum of $200.00 which the said Administratrix is ordered to pay and deliver to heirs of said deceased as follows to wit: "To David Perkins forty dollars "to Merrill Perkins forty dollars "to Hiram Perkins forty dollars "to Mary Perkins forty dollars and "to Roxanna Perkins forty dollars" [Probate Recs (10:502)]

[gs] on the side: "Joseph Perkins / died / Dec. 15, 1827. / AE. 53 yrs. / ---- / Hannah, / His Wife / born / July 8, 1775, / died / Sept. 9, 1859." [gs] Hannah's gs is to the right of this monument: "Hannah / wife of / Joseph Perkins / Died / Sept. 9, 1859. / aged 85 y'rs." [gs] Joseph's gs is in the Stevens Hill Cemetery: "Mr. Joseph Perkins / Died / December 15, 1827 / in the 54th year of his age." [WCem]
