A Bit about the Garrisons of Staten Island, New York
There is no doubt that Isaac Garrison and his wife Maria Christoph er had a son Christopher Garrison and that he was christened 21 Mar 1730/ 31 in the Dutch Reformed Church on Staten Island. Isaac was born on Stat en Island shortly before the census that was taken about 1706 by his fathe r, Lambert Garrison, Sr., then High Sheriff of Staten Island. [John E. Sti llwell. Historical and Genealogical Miscellany. Baltimore: Genealogical P ublishing Co, 1970 (1903). v1, p71. Some researchers among the descendan ts of Jedediah Garrison, who settled in present Banks County, GA, claim th at Isaac Garrison, father of Christopher, was the Isaac, son of Isaac Garr ison and wife Catherine de Romagnac of Dutchess County, NY. This is nothi ng more than an overly ambitious and undocumented attempt to connect wi th the French de Garrisson family, a family that can be traced back to t he late 1500s. Isaac of Staten Island is proven to have been the son of L ambert Garrison, Sr., both by the census mentioned in this section a nd by Lambert's will. [{list source which is Calendar of Wills, etc.}]

Isaac's mother was Susannah Morgan, daughter of Charles Morgan, a nati ve of Newport, Wales, and his second wife, Catharine Huyberts. Maria Chri stopher was christened 1710, daughter of Barent Christopher and his wife A nna Catharine Stillwell. Anna Catharine was the daughter of Nicholas Stil lwell, Jr. and his second wife, the same Catharine Huyberts, then wid ow of Charles Morgan. Susannah and Anna Catharine were half-sisters so Is aac and Maria were half-first cousins. [John E. Stillwell. Stillwell Genea logy. New York: private, 1930. v2, pp7-9, 19. Stillwell.
