Henry Ober died at the age of 83 years. His will of Henry Ober of Elizabethtown, Pa. was probated on July 30, 1822. He mentioned his wife, Magdalena. She was to receive the mefsuage and a tract of land containing 18 acres and 143 perches which was purchased from Abraham Rickert. This land lay in West Donegal Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa. and was bounded by George Wysler; Christian Mufselman; and other. He mentioned the following children: Christian Ober; John Ober; Henry Ober; Peter Ober; Benjamin Ober; Magdalena Ober; Elizabeth Ober (deceased) married David Brubaker; granddaughter, Ann Ober (daughter of Michael Ober) married Henry Bear. Addendum: Before his death, Henry Ober purchased a wooded tract of land containing 11 acres in Donegal Twp., from Jacob Gisch bounded by Jacob Gisch and Paul Youtz. Addendum: Before his death, Henry Ober contracted Henry Brimmer, a carpenter from Elizabethtown on August 6, 1821 to build on the land purchased from Abraham Rickard. Brimmer was to complete the project and maintain a good quality workmanship even if Henry Ober was deceased before the family paid the bill. Henry Ober was a merchant in Elizabethtown, Lancaster Co., Pa. He served in the Revolutionary War under Capt. Thomas Robinson, 3rd Class, 7th Battalion, Lancaster County Militia; mustered in April 23, 1781.
On April 1, 1815 Henry Ober was listed as owning property in Rapho Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa. He owned 6 acres and 8 perches adjoining the lands of Adam Lebe and Adam Brubaker. On his property were one log house 26x20 and one log barn. 1815 Direct Tax, Rapho Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa., p. 64.
Henry Ober was guardian of Sabina and Jacob Hostetter, his niece and nephew. They were children of his wife's (Veronica Stauffer's) sister, Anna Barbara Stauffer Hostetter. Bond Book 1, Volume 1, p. 96. Dated June 19, 1843. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
Henry Ober's will was probated on July 30, 1822. He appointed Benjamin Ober and Christian Ober as executors, but they were later discharged. Henry Ober of Elizabethtown names Christian Hershey of West Hempfield Twp., Lancaster Co. as the new administrator.
