He left Rotterdam on June 21, 1729 aboard the ship "Mortonhouse" which arrived at the port of Philadelphia on August 19, 1729. It is believed that Jacob Over married Anna Maria (maiden name unknown) about 1729. Upon their arrival in America they first settled in Cumry Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. On October 15, 1756 he purchased 172 acres in Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (Land Deed K-149b, Lancaster County Courthouse). He is taxed in Cocalico Township from 1751 to 1763.
