    Johannes Fanckhauser (Funkhouser) arrived with wife and children at Philadelphia from Rotterdam aboard ship Mortonhouse, John Coultes, Commander, 23 Aug 1728, and settled in Lancaster Co., PA. According to the lineage chart of Paul Monroe Funkhouser (b, 1917) in the LDS Family History Center of Johannes's son Jacob, Jacob Funkhouser (d. 1771), was a Mennonite, immigrated from Switzerland or Germany to Virginia about 1730. Some descendants moved to Illinois.
    A book entitled Funkhouser - a Swiss-American Family (1634-1978) is subtitled, "Johannes Fankhauser I (b.1692) married Barbara Habegger II about 1714, and immigrated from Switzerland (via Rotterdam) to Philadelphia in 1728, and settled in either Pennsylvania or Virginia. His son, Johannes II, died in Frederick County, Virginia. Descendants (who chiefly spelled the surname Funkhauser) and relatives lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana and elsewhere. Includes ancestors in Switzerland (who spelled the surname Fankhuser or Fankhauser).
