  • Note: inscribed his name 'George Rochell' in a Bible 'London, Printed by Robert Barker, Printer to the Kings, John BILL, 1636.' Previous owners appear to have been a Rooking who wrote births of 1667-1672, Matthew Wilkson 1678-1683, and William Phillips 1680
  • Note: George Rochelle being returned arrested at the suit of Benja. Chapman being called and not appeareing nor noe security returned judgement is therefore granted the said Benja. Chapman agt. Capt. Thomas Holt Sheriff of this County for seven pounds two shillings and six pence to bee confirmed at the next Court provided the said Rochell doe not then appeare and answer.
  • Note: George Rochelle was evidently well educated for John King, in his will dated Aug. 12, 1704, in Surry, willed him his library of books located in Nansemond (Bk. 5-332). John King has been mentioned before and it may be that he was a relative.
