Note: Dora was the daughter of a white military couple stationed in Nebraska Territory. When her mother died shortly after childbirth, Dora's father gave up his infant daughter to be raised by an Otoe-Missouria family of the Snake Clan. In accordance with tradition, Dora was unconditionally adopted into the tribe. She spoke no English. Her first husband, White Mule, died at an early age. White Mule's cousin, Charles Dailey, married her in accordance with levirate practice. She and Charles are buried together in the tribal cemetery. Dora White Mule Dailey is considered to be the last member of the extinct Snake Clan of the Otoe-Missouria.
