    Michael,
WILLIAM FARRAR, was born Abt. 1724 in Farrar Island, Henrico,Virginia, and died 1788 in Granville, North Carolina. He is a descendent of President Thomas Jefferson.
    Data on William Farrar I:
William Farrar I (1594-1637), born in Ewood, Halifax, Yorkshire, England. Wife: Cicely Reynolds Jordan (1600-1662) Children: Cicily Farrar (1625-1702) * William Farrar II (1626-1677/8) John Farrar (?-?) Martha Farrar (?-?) Comments: Born at Ewood, William arrived in America in March 1618 aboard the ill-fated ship "Neptune", where some 30 people died in route. Once established in Virginia, he became very prominent in colonial leadership. From 1625-1637, he sat on the prestigous governing council, which is why records often refer to him as Councillor William Farrar. He also served as Justice of the Peace, which entitled him to preside over cases in the County Court. However the achievement for which his is most remembered is the establishment of Farrar's Island, in what is now Henrico County, VA. The estate consisted of 2000 acres located in a bend in the James River, about 12 miles south of present-day Richmond. On the northern tip of the island is the site of Henrico (named after Henry, Prince of Wales), founded in 1612 as the second settlement in VA. However Henrico did not last due to a variety of reasons, and was all but abandoned by 1619. During the famed Indian massacre of VA settlers which began on Good Friday, March 22, 1622, about ten men were killed at William Farrar's house. William managed to escape to the fortified home of his neighbor Samuel Jordan, where he stayed for some time. After Jordan died, William won the competition for Jordan's young, attractive, and wealthy widow Cicely, and they were married on May 2, 1625. Angela
