We do not have documentation of this connection, but I can tell you what we do know for a fact and why we have connected our George to Jesse.

First of all, everything I have seen on this George shows he is married to Betsy Waite and they had no children. I believe she may have been his first wife and died young. According to photographs and letters I have, George's wife, my ancestor, was Mary Jane unknown last name.

According to what I have, George was born 15 December 1801 in Stillwater, ST, SC, NY.
Mary Jane unknown b. 21 October 1808 in Canada. I don't know when or where they were married.
George died 22 March 1871 in Blairstown, Benton Co., IA and is buried in Fairfax Cemetery, Fairfax, Linn Co., Iowa. I have been to his grave. I don't know where Mary Jane is buried, but she died 2 December 1876. George is buried next to his daughter, Deborah Minerva Olney Primrose. She was born in Buffalo, NY, so they must have resided there for awhile.
George and Mary Jane had 6 children.

Hellen was married here in IA 29 Sep 1867 in Benton Co. I've seen the marriage record.
Phebe died at about the age of 18 and her sister Deborah had a daughter 5 years later whom she named for her. My mother was named Phebe for this Phebe who was her grandmother.
After Mary Jane died, George married Gelia Dunham and they had a daughter, Mary Georgette. Gelia (Julia) is buried with George. I thought it was unusual that he named his daughter with Gelia after his wife Mary Jane, but then, names were very important to him.
You see, this George, my ggg-grandfather, named his daughters Deborah Minerva, Aurelia, Phebe, and Elizabeth. The George listed in your website, son of Jesse and husband of Betsy Waite, had a mother named Deborah, grandmother named Elizabeth, great-grandmother named Phebe and sisters named Minerva, Elizabeth and Aurelia. OK, so Elizabeth is a common name. But Phebe, Minerva and Aurelia&#00063;!
You have Rensselaer with a son Edwin. George had a son Edwin. Perhaps Deborah Whitmore's father was named Edwin.
And Kirkland, DeKalb Co., IL is not so far from Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., IA. I just put Kirkland, IL and Cedar Rapids, IA on Mapquest and discovered they are a little less than 200 miles apart! George is buried just outside of Cedar Rapids a short distance.
The more I read about your George, the more I am convinced he is my George.
George owned property in Benton Co., and is on census records here. I have a few copies of documents, but nothing in front of me right now.
