1. 1759. Caleb Dille was born in Morristown, Morris co., NJ. Have also seen his birthplace given as Bridgewater, Somerset co., NJ. 1778-1779. He migrated from Morris co., NJ to Morris twp., Washington co., PA with his father and six brothers. He served in the Washington co. PA Militia during the Revolutionary War he was in Captain Miller's Co., 1st Battalion, Continental Line. 6 Feb 1780. Married Rebecca Martin in Washington co., PA. 1785. Caleb's oldest son, David, was born in Washington co., PA. 1800. Caleb left Washington co., PA to join his brothers (Aaron, John, Samuel, David, Jr., and Asa) in Belmont co., OH on land in a low valley along the Ohio River that became known as Dilles' Bottom. He settled on land in the Big Bend of the Ohio River across from Moundsville, WV. 31 May 1802. Owned Sec35 T5 R3 in Belmont co., OH. (Bk. 432:15, Belmont co., OH). mid 1820's. Lived in Monroe co., OH (west of Belmont co., OH) and later, Richmond co., OH. 1826. Moved to Henry co., IN following his sons there. His farm was about 5 miles NW of Knightstown, IN. 1839. Died in Henry co., IN. 2. The Craff homepage on the Web also lists Martin Dille and Henry Dille as children of this family. 3. Caleb's marriage year has also been seen as 1782.
