YORKTOWN, VA - Robert Gerald Maloney, 72, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2001. Mr. Maloney was a native of Troy, NY and a peninsula resident since 1971 and moved to York County in 1974. He retired from the Air Force in 1976 after 30 years as a MSGT. He was a veteran of Vietnam and received the Distinguished Fly Cross Medal. After retirement, he worked for Patrick Henry Airport and the Newport News/Willamsburgh International Airport as a security guard. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Chiyoko Asato Maloney, a daughter, Malinda Bormm and her husband, John of Orlando FL.; two sisters, Ruth McCrea and Margaret Nazarian, both of Troy NY, brother Thomas Maloney of Troy NY and two grandsons, Toshiki Asato and Hisashi Asato. He was preceded in death by a son, Eishun Asato. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, January 26, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in Amory Funeral Home Chapel by Father Peter Kwon. The family will receive friends following the service.
