    Sigfroi was (according to Ysenburg-Buedingen/Freytag von Lo ringhoven) son of Count Richwin of Verdun by Cunegund, wido w of Count Wigerich of the Bidgau (d.c. 919). As noted, som e authorities state that Count Adalbert of Metz (d. 944) m . Wigerich's dau. Liutgard. This would result in a chronolo gically very awkward cousin marriage between Gerhard (d. 10 21/33) and Eva (fl. 1020). Such a filiation would make Liut gard, wife of Adalbert (d. 944), Sigfroi's half-sister; bu t Liutgard's gr. grandson Gerard (d. 1021/33) m. Sigfroi' s dau. Eva (fl 1020). Since Eva's filiation appears certain , her marriage may offer reason to reconsider the identific ation of Liutgard's first husband Count Adalbert with Coun t Adalbert of Metz (d. 944).
