    It appears that a close relationship between the Mill s and Humphreysfamilies continued through sucessive generat ions and severalHumphreys-Mills marriages are recorded.
    Samuel Humphrey was a prominent and highly respected c itizen ofSimsbury. He removed with his father from Windso r about 1669 toSimsbury. At that time it was called " Mass acoe". He was made Justiceof the Peace in Hartford Count y by the General Assembly, May 1712, 1714,1715 and 1716. H e was Representative of Simsbury in the General Assemblyi n 1792, 1719, and 1722-1725. He earned the rank of Lieuten ant about1709\10. His commission was signed by Governor Sa ltonstall and was inthe possession of one of his descendant s as of1883.
