Despit e the violent objections of his subjects, he had himself cr owned b y Pope Innocent III in Rome and declared his kingdo m a feudatory of the Holy See (1204). Pete r, with other Sp anish kings, took a prominent part in the victory over th e Moors at Las Nava s de Tolosa (July 16, 1212); but he the n went to support his brother-in-law Raymond VI of Tou lous e against the crusader Simon de Montfort in Languedoc.
