Will of Stephen Smith of Westerly, Rhode Island dated Feb 15, 1842, proved April 11, 1843 reads:
I have heretofore made allowance to my following children: Levi H. Smith, Clarrissa Pendleton wife of Taylor Pendleton, Esther B. Robinson widow of William Robinson dec., Martha H. Pierce wife of Bernard W. Pierce & Elizabeth M. Maxson wife of William Ellery Maxson. All my other children should recieve $200 each to make equal with those which I have made advacements to. The surplus then equally divided among all my children. my 2 sons Stephen Smith jr. & David Smith Exors. Witn: Thankful Clarke, Martha Maxson,Jesse Maxson.
