      Text: MRS. LEONARD DIES SUDDENLY

Mrs. Lydia Leonard passed away very suddenly at her home, 521 No. Highland, this morning at 7:30 o'clock at the age of 79 years, 5 months, 13 days. Lydia Guilliams was born May 25, 1849 in Putnam Co., Indiana. With her husband she moved to Kansas in 1884, and lived on a farm 3 and one-half miles west of Earlton, until 1919, when they moved to Chanute, where she has since resided. Mr. Leonard passed away in May 1921 and since that time she had made her home with her daughters. Mrs. Leonard was in her usual health when the end came this morning. She is survived by one son, Jacob Leonard Jr., of Thayer, and six daughters, Mrs. Charles Hamilton, El Dorado Kansas, Misses Grace, Elsie, Anna, Ida, and Lula of the home address. Nine grand daughters, four grand-sons, and five great grand grandchildren [sic]. Services will be held from the Christian church in Chanute, Friday afternoon at 2:30, in charge of Rev Michael and Dr. Stucker with burial at Thayer cemetery, at the side of her husband. It was Mrs. Leonard's request that no flowers be sent for her funeral so please do not send flowers.
