Services for D.C. Stotts, 78, of Lubbock will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Treat officiating and the Rev. Herb Tavenner and the Rev. James Carter assisting.
Burial will be in City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
He died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999.
He was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Gordon. He served the in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, receiving his honorable discharge in 1945 as a Corporal. He married Jerry Taylor on Oct. 12, 1941, in Slaton. He owned and operated Stotts Trucking Company for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He lived in Slaton from 1930 to 1940; Clovis, N.M. from 1941 to 1943 and had been a resident of Lubbock since 1950. He was a member of Texas Oilfield Haulers Association for 30 years. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church since 1976 and Crusaders Sunday School Class. He was the finance chairman for his church from 1979 to 1981 and served as the church treasurer from 1985 to 1998.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Don Taylor Stotts of Midland; two daughters, Debbie Dickson of Lubbock and Denise Edwards of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Sanders Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials to Asbury United Methodist Church.
