Jon Michael Templin, age 68, of Georgetown, Texas, went to be with the Lord at 10:50 pm on August 15, 2007. He died of Alzheimer's Disease.

Jon was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, and spent most of his life in Indiana, living in Elkhart, Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Jasper. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1957, from Wabash College in 1961 with a B.A. in Liberal Arts, and received his MSW from the University of Denver School of Social Work. Jon was a very gentle soul with a passion for kindness, justice and peace. In college, he fought for civil rights with the NAACP. He worked with the United Way, then with AMOS (Associated Migrant Opportunity Services) for several years. The goal of AMOS was to help migrants get out of the migrant stream. Though going on to the business world, he always considered service to others as his calling. He was an active Kiwanis member, working with the disabled in the Aktion Club, serving as Lieutenant Governor, and with the Key Club.
He worked in the family business, Templin's Music, and for his last 20 years in insurance and investments as an independent agent.

Jon married June Diman on June 23, 1963. They had three children and six grandchildren in their 44 years together. He is survived by his wife June, daughter Mrs. Patrick (Patricia) Raglin of Georgetown, TX; son Michael Templin (wife Laura) of Wilmette, IL; and daughter Elizabeth Templin of Laredo, TX. brother William Templin of Elkhart, IN; sister Cynthia Segneri of Henderson, TN; brother Eric Ernst of Alexandria, VA. Also surviving are six grandchildren and the many people that he touched throughout his lifetime of involvement in the community. Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur Templin and Virginia (Mathias) Templin, and a brother Edwin (Bud) Ernst.

He was a very gentle soul, who devoted his life to helping others.

After retiring in 2003, Jon and June moved to Sun City, Texas to enjoy their golden years. A celebration service will be held at Wellspring United Methodist Church in Georgetown, TX on Tuesday, August 21, at 4:00 pm. In place of flowers, donations may be sent to Vistacare Hospice, the Alzheimer's Association, or to the Kiwanis club.
