    We estimate that James Haislip was born about 1745, as there is a James Haislip mentioned as taking the Oath of Fidelity in Montgomery County MD (Folder 2, page 3). He migrated to Charles County, MD and then to Fairfax County where he settled permanently until his death in 1803.

    In the name of God Amen. I, James Haislip, of the County of Fairfax and the Parish of Truro, being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks to God for the same and calling to mind the mortality of the body and knowin that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament (that is to say) I give and recommend it to the earth, to be buried in a decent like manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned. Nothing but the General Resurrection shall receive the same again but the might power of God as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to help me in this life. I give and bequeath as follows: (that is to say) I give the whole of my Estate to my beloved wife, Abigail Haislip, during her life and at her free will and dispose at her death and I also appoint her as my soul Executrix of this my last Will and Testatment. And I do hereby disallow all and every other Wills and Testaments, legacies and bequeaths and Executors by me in any way named before ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal. This seventh day of January in the yar of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and three. Signed, Sealed and Published, and declared by the said James Haislip, as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us.

    At a Court held for Fairfax County, the 18th day of July 1809, the last Will and Testament of James Haislip deceased, was presented in Court and proved by the oaths of Richard Wheeler and James Harper and ordered to be recorded.
