The will of John Warren dated 12 Aug 1713, proved 13 Feb 1713/14 in Charles Co Md. was witnessed by John Maddox, Alexander Contee & Thos. Lewis. He devised to his wife Judith Warren the 500 a. dwelling plantation and Hatton's Point. He divided the remaining property between his two daughters, Mary Warren and Anne Warren. Mary Warren, born 1707, married Notley Maddox Jr, son of Notley Maddox Sr. & Margaret Goldsmith. Mary Warren received from her father tracts Rich Thicketts with 500 a. adjoining tracts The Hills and Warren's Discovery. Anne Warren received "The Tanyard" and "Smoot's Purchase". Judith Townley Warren married John Bruce by 30 Jan 1716/17 and had at least four more children by him.

Stephen Compton and Wife and Anne Dent's Lessee
Elizabeth Hanson aged seventy Five Years or thereabouts being sworn on the Holy Evangelists in the above cause do depose and say that she is acquainted with Mary the Wife of Stephen Compton and M.rs Anne Dent that they were always deemed to be sisters and the Daughters of Jn.o Warren; that she understood that Jn.o Warren intermarried with Judith Townley and that M.rs Compton & Mrs Dent were Daughters of that Marriage; That she his Deponant was Married to Benjamin Warren the reputed Brother of John Warren that the said Benjamin and John Warren were Deemed to be the Sons of Humphrey and Margery Warren that she this Deponent lived in Picawaxen after she was married to Benjamin Warren between sixteen and Twenty years & never heard it insinuated hinted or surmised that either Benjamin or John Warren were base born nor ever heard other ways but that the sid Humphrey and Margery were Lawfully married, This Deponent declared further that she had Issue by her husband Benjamin Warren a son whose Name was Humphrey & that her said son Humphrey was living at the Time of his fathers decease, but dyed the day following; That she never Knew or heard that John Warren had any other children but the above said Mary Compton and Ann Dent that she this Deponant knowes the Plantation where Jane the Widow of Charles Bruce now lives that next before Charles Bruce possessed the said plantation Jn.o Bruce lived thereon and next before him John Warren lived there, that next before John Warren she this Deponent & her Husband Benjamin Warren lived upon the same land and that she has heard it sayd that Humphrey Warren the supposed Father to Benjamin & John Warren lived upon the said Plantation before her & her said Husband And further this Deponents saith not Sworn before me the 2.d day of May 1763 In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal

At the request of Mrs. Ann Dent, I have resurveyed a tract of land lying on Wicocomoco River, originally, on Oct 28. 1650, granted to Thomas Hatton for 500 acres, bounded by Wicocomoco Point, containing 329-1/2 acres, and at the instance of sd Ann Dent of the one part, and Stephen Compton & Mary, his wife, of the other part, I have divided the same into two equal parts, sd Ann getting the northernmost part, and sd Stephen & Mary, the southernmost part. Resurveyed and divided Sep 20, 1764 per Wm Hanson, ds [Deputy Surveyor].
Nov 1, 1764, agreeable to a division made the above date, we oblige ourselves to abide by the same. Signed - Stephen Compton, Mary Compton, Ann Dent. Recorded Apr 15, 1765. [A plat follows],

May 21, 1765 from Robert Yates of Stafford County, Virginia, planter, to Ann Dent of CC, Gentlewoman, for 169 £ sterling, and for divers other good causes, two tracts of land in CC, the one called Wallinfield, adjoining to the land of John Gooch (now in possession of the sd Ann Dent), containing and laid out for about 160 acres, being the land which Charles Yates, the father of the afd Robert, bought of William Hawton, as per deed acknowledged and recorded. Also, the other tract of land is in CC and adjoining to the above named land, and called the Hog House, bounded by the sd Wallingefield, containing and laid out for about 42 acres, as per patent granted to Charles Yates, brother of the above named Robert on Sep 19, 1755. Signed - Robt Yates. Wit - Geo Dent*, Edwd Smoot*. Elizabeth, the wife of the sd Robert Yates, relinquished her right of dower to the lands within mentioned. Recorded May 21, 1765.
