Maryland: - This indenture made the 23rd day of February in the 19th year of the Dominian of the Right Charles absolute Lord and proprietary of the province of Maryland and Avalon, Lord Baron of Baltimore in the year of our Lord 1731 between Joseph Douglas of Charles Countys in the province of Maryland Gentleman on the one part and Richard Marshall of the said County Planter on the other party Witnessth; that the said Joseph Douglas for and in consideration of the just sum of 5 pounds sterling money by the said Richard Marshall to the said Joseph Dougless in hand paid, and before the unsealing and delivery of those present the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge and himself thereof and every part thereof to be fully satisfied and paid and him the said Richard Marshall) his heirs, etc. Adm., thereof and of every part and parcel thereof doth hereby ( & ) acquit and discharges has given, granted, aliened, bargained, enfeoffed and confirmed and by those present doth fully, clearly and absolutely bargain, sell, enfeoff confirm and make over unto the said Richard Marshall, his heirs and a ssigns forever all the rights, title, interest and estate whatsoever in and to two hundred acres of land formerly taken up by a certain Ralph Smith called by the name Smith's Adventure, lying in Prince George's County upon Oxen Runs half mile above now such beginning at a white oak on the north side of the run running down the run west by south 200 perches to a bounded white oak on the south side of the run, thence north by west 160 perches to a hickory on a barren hill then east by north 200 perches to a oak thence south by east 160 perches to the first bound tree containing and then laid out for 200 acres more or less according to the first certificate to have and to hold the said parcel together with all and singular the homes orchards, pastures, woods, woodland enclosures and all other appurtenances, rights, advantages throughout, belonging or any way appertaining by those present sold or intended to be sold unto the said Richard Marshall, his heirs, assigns forever, and to his heirs and their only proper use and behalf forever of the said Joseph Douglas for himself and his heirs, administrator, doth hereby covenant s etc., promise and agree that the said Richard Marshall his heirs, etc.s shall and may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter by force and virtue of these present lawfully, peaceably and quietly have hold occupy posses and enjoy the said parcel of land with all singular the premises without the hinderances, molestation trouble of him the said Joseph Douglas, his heirs, etc., or any of them or any person whatsoever

I, Joanna Acton of PG, know that I, for the natural love I have for my daughter, Elizabeth Milsted of PG, for divers other good causes, have granted to sd Elizabeth Milsted, 7 young Negroes, viz, boy Sharper, boy Harry, boy Peter, boy Walter, Garl Bess, Garl Jane, & Garl Grace, and 30 £ sterling, 2 good new feather beds & furniture, 6 cows calves, 1 riding horse, and a woman's saddle with furniture, and 2 gold rings. But if sd Elizabeth Milsted dies without having children of her body, then the afd gifts to return to sd Joanna Acton and her heirs, or any of them that be then living. Lord Proprietary vs Jane Maud. Bastardy, Convict per Confession.
At last Mar CC Court, by the oath of 15 jurors, namely, Thomas Matthews &c, was presented Jane Maud for bearing a bastard child. And now here, the afd Jane, in custody of the Sher:, to the bar here brought came and says that she is guilty. Ordered that the sd Jane be fined or suffer corporal punishment, and for that the sd Jane cannot pay or secure any person to be security for the fine afd, ordered that the Sher: take the sd Jane to the whipping post and having stripped her naked from the waist upwards, there give her 12 lashes on the bare back for her offence. And now here, Richard Marshall into Court here in his proper person came, and became pledge and Security for the afd Jane to pay the Court fees

Sd tract of land is now called the Door of the World. Signed - Benjamin Fendall.
