    Mowrer Year's Ninth Traffic Victim
KILLED WHEN CAR RUNS INTO BACK OF TRUCK
Fatal Accident Occurs This Morning on Route 30, East of City.
Wayne county's ninth traffic victim of 1947 was Edward Mowrer, 66, who was killed at 12:30 a.m., today on Route 30, a mile and a quarter east of Wooster.
A Plymouth car, driven by Richard D. Snader, 22, of Wooster RD 5, in which Mowrer was a passenger, ran into the rear of a truck loaded with steel, and Mowrer suffered a broken neck and fractured ribs.
The truck was one of the big steel-hauling outfits, drawing a four-wheel trailer, and was driven by John Taylor Bloom, 32, of 3101 Middlebranch Road, Canton.
Snader escaped with very slight injuries, although the Plymouth car was badly damaged. There was only slight damage to the rear of the truck, according to the report of the accident made by the State Highway Patrol.
Mowrer, during part of the time the U.S. Navy School was operating at Wooster College, was employed in the kitchen at Kenarden. He ceased to work there last September.
Samuel Edward Mowrer was born October 29, 1881, near Overton, a son of Benjamin and Magdalena Matty Mowrer. He spent most of his life on a farm near Overton, but had lived with his son during the past seven years.
In addition to the son, Carl, the survivors include three daughters, Grace Mowrer, Wooster; Pearl Tharp, Ashland; and Blanche Guenther, Wooster; three sisters, Mrs. O.G. Conn, Wooster R.D., Mrs. Robert Condry, Burbank; and Mrs. Harry Ogden, Wooster R.D.; three brothers, Thomas, William and Harry, Wooster, R.D.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m., at the Overton Church of God, with Rev. Elwood Levers and Rev. Homer Denney officiating. Burial in the Overton cemetery. The body will be taken to the church an hour before the services. Friends will be received at the McIntire Funeral Home Sunday from 3 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m.
