Aug 2011 update: Email from Teresa - "RE: John A.M. "bud" Shirley of the Peter Shirley Branch. He is not listed on any register of Quantrells raiders. There were many partisan ranger groups in Missouri during the Civil War. He most definitely fought and died at Sarcoxie Missouri . He was killed by Union soldiers when escaping a farmhouse where he had been eating. His sisters husband- to- be, James C Reed was, however a member of Quantrells raiders."
