By record her name was Martha M. Emerson. Editorial by J. Heard: M. M. is, perhaps, for Martha Mandy (Manda) Brumley. Mandy or Manda is a common shortening of Amanda.

    William A. Emerson was her brother. Thomas Emerson b.1801 was Martha A. Emerson's father. Thomas L. Emerson b. 1834 (I have him listed as Thomas B.) was Martha's brother
