Father: Nathaniel WHITTEMORE III b: 21 MAY 1783 in Peterborough
Mother: Betsey DODGE b: 28 OCT 1789 in Amherst, NH

    Marriage 1 Margaret Cleopatra FAY b: 21 FEB 1828
    • Married: 07 SEP 1848 in Hamilton, Madison, NY
    • Note:
1854 per Whittemore book and per History of the Town of Peterborough, NH.
Emma used this date in her DAR application, but it seems an error.
Sept. 7, 1848 per Torrey book and my own notes from Stella Guest. and in
Vital Records of Madison Co. record of marriages.
The marriage had to take place before 1850 since the couple was found in
the 1850 census as George Wetimore, age 28, lawyer and wife Cleopatra,
age 22 living in Hamilton, NY together with her brother James L. Fay.
There is also a woman Cloe B. Piciner? age 33 and her daughter Josephine
      age 2 (servant?)
The couple is also listed as parents of Ada on her gravestone and Ada
      was born in 1851.
In 1860 the will of Nathaniel Whittemore names Margaret Cleopatra Fay
as the wife of his son Joseph P. Whittemore. This is the same year that
their son James was born so helps establish her as James's mother, rather
      than the second wife, Kate.
