1843 Nauvoo City records indicate that a petition was granted to Milo Andurs on Dec 1843 to have Mulholland Street extended at least to the Andrus property.

In the spring of 1844, I went in company with Elder Milo Andrus on a mission to Ohio. While preaching in Ohio, we heard of the disturbance at Nauvoo. We immediately left our place of labor and returned in hasteto the Saints at Nauvoo. About one hundred fifty miles below, we met a boat coming down that gave us the news of the Prophet's death. A perfect shout was set up by the devils incarnate on our boat, who were on their way to Nauvoo to fight the Mormons. Had I possessed the strength of Sampson, I would, like him, have sunk the whole mess in one gulf of oblivion and sent them to their congenial spirits, the howling devils of the infernal regions.
On the morning of the 29th of June, we arrived at Nauvoo and went to the Mansion House, saw the bodies of the Prophet and Patriarch, lacerated and mangled with the gun shot wounds which they had received while prisoners and under the protection of the law. They were surrounded by hundreds of the Saints, crowding to get a last glimpse of those they dearly loved.
1844 Milo is listed as the bishop of Nauvoo 5th ward. The ward boundaries were Cutler Street on the north; Mulholland Street on the south; the river on the west and east at least as far as the city limits. (Surveyed city blocks estended for 32 blocks east from the river).
1845 Milo lived in the 5th ward in Nauvoo, 2340 East and 800 North or about 30 blocks east of the river on Mulholland St. This ward included the Nauvoo temple site!
(Visiting Nauvoo today you will find that Mulholland Street is still open past the old Andrus property. It located a cuple of blocks South of Ill. Highway #96 on the north east of the Catholic and old city Cemeteries, and across the street from the present city cemetery).

Pisgah, and from there went to Council Bluffs, where the government called on us for a battalion of 500 men to go to Mexicc After the battalion was started, I was sent forward with others to the number of one hundred and fifty wagons; went as far as the Pawnee Indian Village, then went 150 miles to the northwest among the Ponca Indians. After staying there two months, we went back to Winter Quarters. Stayed and farmed in that county in the year 1847; and in the spring of 1848, I was sent on a mission to EngLand. Shortly before I left, Sarah Ann Miles was sealed to me, and she accompanied me to England.

1849 October Monday, 15 - Still in Liverpool. I have just received a letter from William Lang of Madina, Madina Co., Ohio bearing the date 11 September 1849 bringing the news of the death of my father who departed this life on the 27th of June, 1849, at the advanced age of seventy-six years in the Township of Henrietta, Lorain Co. Ohio. He was buried by the side of my mother, who departed this life on the 1 Jan 1831 in the township of Norwalk, Huron Co., Ohio, in the fifty-seventh year of her age. She died about one year after the Gospel was restored by an Angel. They are interred in the Church yard in Henrietta near my brother's house. Thus our ancestors are gone, and their children grow up to manhood and womanhood. They are ten in number, four sons and six daughters. Milo, the youngest son, has embraced the fullness of the Gospel as revealed by the Lord in the Last Days, in consequence of which the balance of the family have cast me out of their feelings. The Lord be thanked I feel to rejoice that I am counted worthy to suffer for the truth's sake.

1850 Milo Sarah Jane Miles and Milo Jr. returned on the ship Argo departed on Jan 10 arrived March 8 New Orleans, 402 LDS aboard " In 1850 the ship Argo was sailing blind in pitch darkness off the coast of Cuba when she narrowly escaped disaster. Suddenly the heavens were brightened by a strange light which showed a huge rock dead ahead. Captin Charles Mills, a veteran mariner, was able to turn the vessel and avoid what had seemed an inevitable collision, The Saints interpreted the light as providential. from Church Emmigration records as reported in Saints on the Seas by Conway B. Erastus Snow organized a stake of Zion in St. Louis, Missouri, with Milo Andrus as President, Charles Edwards as 1st Counselor and George Gardiner as 2nd Counselor In the Stake there were six wards in the city of St. Louis plus the following branches: Balfontaine, Keokuk, Ia., Bluff City, Iowa., Fairfield, Iowa, Centerville, Illinois, Maquoketa, Iowa, Alton, and Dry Hill(a total of 15 Wards and branches with a membership of 1,820).

Directly across the street fro the Arch on the S.W. Corner of 3rd and Market St., the Saints rented an old Baptist Church for thier meetings from 1848 to 1854, Also on Mraket St. between 4th and 5th Streets the Saints held conferences...in Concert Hall. of course these buildings no longer exist. Only a few blocks to the north on the N.W. corner of 4th and Washington Ave. , the mormons rented a Methodist church (1854-1857). In the basement Apostle Snow Published the St. Louis Luminary.

In 1854 the Saints living in Europe were counseled to come to the United States under the direction of the Church Presidency in the British Isles. They were advised to stay in such places in the East as would be selected where they could find work until a way could be opened for them to come to Utah. The Saints living in Australia, India and all countries bordering upon the Pacific, were instructed to gather in California where their future movements would be directed by the Presidency of the Church. According to the Deseret News of April 13, 1854, sixty five men were called during the spring months to fill missions. The missionaries abroad had numerous deaths ocurring while crossing the ocean, and along the trail, those people who reached their Zion strengthened the settlements and helped to build a greater commonwealth.

MILO WRITES TO THE EDITOR OF THE LUMINARY ERASTUS SNOW MAY 13TH 1855 THAT AT 5 O'COLCK THIS EVENING. I HARNESSED MY HOURSE, TOOK SOME OF THE SAINTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF TAKING A MORE EXTENSIVE VIEW OF THE COUNTRY, ... AND AFTER ABOUT SIX MILES WE CAME TO THE DAINSH SAINTS WHO HAVE JUST ARRIVED TO-DAY, UNDER THE CHARGE OF P.O. MANSON. THEY EXPECT TO START IN 6 DAYS THEY GO WITH SECREST ON JUNE 13 (SO 6 DAYS TOOK ONE MONTH) LAURA
Over Six hundred Saints had been helped through the Perpetual Emigrating Fund this year to reach the Valley of the Mountains. It was reported that " the work of the Lord was still progressing in Australia, Sandwich Islands, British Isles, Denmark, Sweden, and Northern Italy, Switzerland, France, the British Provinces and in many parts of the United States. At Cape Town, South Africa another Branch of the Church had been established."
The Epistle of 1855 stated: "In regard to the foreign emigration, another year let the Saints pursue the northern route from Boston, New York or Philidelphia and land at Iowa city or the then terminus of the railroad. There let them be provided with handcarts on which to draw their provisions and clothing, then walk and draw them thereby saving the immense expense every year for teams and outfits for crossing the plains. We are sanguine that such a train will out-travel any ox team train that can be started... Let the Saints who thereby immigrate the ensuing year understand that they are expected to walk and draw their luggage across the plains, and that they will be assisted by the fund in no other way.

1855 ? Mormons may have built rock building at Mormon Gorve it started as a dug out with a 60 foot well in the corner. It was lined with a rock harth and "cubbies for keeping kitchen supplies. It then had a 1st and second story out of rock. Dea Yankee a local historian thinks it was built by the mormons.
The Cemetery near the same location was about 150 feet long north to sough and 35 feet wide (east to west) located near the southwest corner of the Armstrong farm, or at the Southwest corner of the S1/2 of the NE 1/4 sec. 5 T6S, R20 E.just north of new U.S. 73
Milo would have been under the impression that the saints would have been leaving from Mormon grove for many years and prepared the place accordingly. The fact that they would abandon this place would only have been known at the end of the year with the 1855 letter to prepare the Saints for the 1856 season

Milo Jr. reports that his father brought the first peach orchard to Utah when he returned from St Louis. Milo must have also brought a thrashing machine in. Probably this was freighted with the Hindley Company early in the year. This is the company that Ann and Elizabeth Brooks come on with the Piano. I don't think that Milo would have wanted to face Brigham Young if he had left Brigham's thrashing machine in Iowa and brought his own thrashing machine or piano to Salt Lake on the same compnay.

Heberville or Price (Later Bloomington) Washington County Durring the seasonof 1875 when the farm was operated by 12 men and boys under WilliamF. Butler as superintendent. $175.00 applied on the debt; the wage,of course. were paid in produce. But this compahy broke up also. A new one consisting of 9 members, with Milo Andrus as superintendent. bought the farm for $4,500.00. The members earned byt $1.00 per day inproduce and $.75 in capital Stock for the iprovements added. These condidting of a large rock house, a water ditch, and a wheel for grinding sugar cane; they also paid $250.00 onthe debt. This Cooperative farming seemed to be more than the managerscould stand, for Milo Andrus resigned at the endof the season, and in 1877 William Lang took charge. Under himn fair crops and wages were made, and some improvements were added to the farm. ..but resigned after Brighams death Aug 29 1877.

  Abigail Jane Daley had a hard time living the principle of pologomy. Abigail Jane divorced Milo and had the sealing cancelled on 30 Dec 1850. She married her 2nd husband Elisha Wheat Vannette on 26 July 1859. She divorced her 2nd husband Elisha Wheat Vannette and sealing was cancelled on 4 Apr 1865. He too had entered into "the order". On 17 Mar 1886 she was again sealed to Milo Andrus in the Logan Temple. She took care of Milo untill his death in 1893 according to her daughter.
