STRADER

Mr. Charles Andrew Strader Sr., age 68, a resident of 4112 Murphy School Rd., died Saturday evening at Durham Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Thomas Allen and Maggie Davis Strader. Mr. Strader was predeceased by his wife, Annette Carter Strader, and his brother Robert Strader. Mr. Strader was born in Rockingham Co. He served with U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Following his tour of duty, he became an employee of S&W Cafeteria, where he worked over 20 years, moving to Durham in 1959. Mr. Strader retired from Long Beverage Co. in May of 1999, following 15 years of employment. Most recently he worked at Johnny's Foodland as a meat cutter.

Surviving are his daughter, Sandy S. Griggs and husband, Rob of Durham; son, Andy Strader and wife, Sherry of Hurdle Mills; sisters, Faye Bowen and Betty Montgomery, both of Reidsville; brother Dwayne Strader of Reidsville; and grandchildren, Drew Strader, Wesley Strader, Will Griggs, and Grayson Griggs.

A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday 11 a.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Kevin Wilson. Burial of Mr. Strader's remains will follow the service in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clements Funeral Home Monday evening from 7 to 9. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3500 Westgate Dr, Suite 201, Durham NC 27707. The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral Service, 286-1224.
