    Hattie Carter Smith, 95, of 315 Greenwood Street, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Beverly Health Care, Martinsville, Va.

    The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at First Baptist Church, Eden. Burial will follow in Lawson Cemetery.

    She was born in Rockingham Co., a member of First Baptist Church, and retired from Fieldcrest Mills.

    Survivors are her daughters, Mary Sue Surber of Martinsville, Va., Eunice Shreve and husband Herman of Cary, and Ruby Hinson and husband of Eden; son, Fred D. Smith, Jr. of Eden; sisters, Daisy Cook of Eden and Lillian Soots of Kernersville; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

    Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fair Funeral Home.
