    The second annual Burns Reunion was held at Lake-Mont-Park Aug. 14, 19[14] with the president J.C. Burns presiding. The morning was spent in a general social time. At noon a sumptuous dinner was served, in which all did ample justice, at 2:30 P.M. a business meeting was called, and the following officers were elected, Pres. D.W. Burns, Sec. Mrs. Brinton Peight, and treasurer Mr. David Allbright. The following committee was appointed: Abraham Burns, George Burns, David Allbright, C.J. Beckwith, Mrs. Effie Burns, Mrs. Mary C. Bonner. A collection of $5.16 was lifted towards expenses for the next reunion to be held Aug. 20, 1915, at Lake-Mont-Park. As there [was] no other business we spent the remainder of the day [remainder missing].

    RETIRED SHOPMAN DIES IN FLORIDA

    James Calvin Burns of 405 Cherry avenue, retired employe of the Pennsylvania Railroad company, died suddenly last night in Jacksonville, Fla., of a stroke, according to information received early this morning by local relatives.

    Mr. Burns went to Florida last Thursday, accompanied by two other retired employes of the company, close friends and neighbors, Daniel Sheets and Joseph Detwiler. At the time of his departure he was in very good health.

    The body will be brought back to Altoona, accompanied by Mr. Sheets and Mr. Detwiler. The time of arrival and of funeral services has not yet been determined.

    Mr. Burns was born at Hollidaysburg on Jan. 9, 1858. He retired from the railroad service as a car inspector at the local passenger station on Feb. 1, 1923, after a number of years' service. His wife, Mrs. Annie Elizabeth (Griffith) Burns, died four years ago.

    Surviving are three sons and two daughters, Mrs. G.W. Peight, John Calvin, jr., Charles Wesley and Glen Anson Burns, all of the city, and Mrs. William Leisher of Cleveland, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one brother, John Burns of Chicago.

    Mr. Burns was a member of the Grace Methodist church, the Red Men and the Junior Order United American Mechanics.

    The body of James Calvin Burns of 405 Cherry avenue, retired employe of the Altoona works, who died suddenly in Florida Wednesday night, will arrive in Altoona at 2.57 o'clock this afternoon and will be removed to the late home. Funeral services will be held at the Grace Methodist church at 2.30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery.
