  • Note: Christian Reichart (Reichard) was a brother of Maria (Reich ard) Bock, Jacob's mother. Christian was born 17 April 177 3; d. 8 May 1852; m. in 1798 Barbara Betzner, dau. of Samu el & Maria (Detwiler) Betzner. Jacob Bock lived with his u ncle Christian Reichart until 1814 when he married Kathari ne Shupe. "John Shupe about age 40 took his family to Cana da in 1801... The Shupe family settled at 'Reichart's Ford ' named after Christian and John Reichart who were the ear liest settlers there (1799-1800). The Shupe land adjoined t he Reichart land, and on the 31st of July 1814, John's dau ghter Catharine married Jacob Bock who was a nephew of Chr istian Reichard....
