The Recorder, Gore Bay, Thursday, April 11, 1929 Wedding Gibbs-Best At the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Best of Gordon, was th e scene on Thursday, April 4th , of a pretty wedding when t heir daughter,Katherine Ardath, was united in marriage to L yman Sylvester Gibbs, son of Mr. and Mrs. J ohn Gibbs of Go re Bay. Rev. W.H. Bradford, pastor of te Gore Bay Unite d C hurch performed the ceremony.The bride, who was giveni n marriage by her f ather, was lovely in her wedding gown o f white georgette and tulle, her fu ll length veil being ca ught with a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried in he r arms a bouquet of roses, easter lilies and orange blossom s. Miss Elsie Gibbs, sister of the groom,played the weddin g march, (Lohengrin) as the bride entered thetastefully dec orated room upon the arm of her father and took her place b eside the groom beneath a beautiful arch of evergreens an d flowers. Only the immediate friends of the contracting pa rties were present at the ceremony. After the signing of th e register the guests repaired to the dining-room where a s umptuous wedding breakfast was spread, Mr. Harvey Gibbs, br other of the groom acting as master of ceremonies. A recept ion was held in the evening when the house was filled wit h guests from Gore Bay and Gordon. The bride, who is very p opular was the recipient of many beautiful and useful prese nts among which was a cabinet of silver, the groom's presen t to the bride and a substantial cheque fromthe bride's par ents. The groom's gift to the organist was a pretty gold br acelet. The happy couple will spend their honeymoon in Saul t Ste.Marie enroute to Detroit, Mich, where they will resid e in future. The Recorder joins in wishing the young coupl e a long and happy wedded life!
