Three Children Burned to Death - Shocking Tragedy at Littl e Current - date unknown
On Wednesday, August 4, about noon the fire bell rang and a s usual people rushed to find out where the fire was. It wa s found to be a small barn and other buildings on Bruce Wil kin's place. The engine could do nothing on account of th e hay, etc., and in a very short time the buildings were i n a mass of flames. As the wind was blowing from a safe qua rter there seemed to be no more danger. The town receive d a severe shock when the word went around that three youn g children who had been sleeping in the hay mow of one of t he buildings, had perished in the flames. The children wer e between the ages of 5 and 6 years of age, two of them bel onging to Mrs. Utley, her only children, and the other to M r. Wilkins. An inquest is being conducted.
