Mr. D. B. McRea Died Suddenly A telegram received by C.C. Platt, secretary of the Mason ic Lodge,stating that Mr D.B. McRea had died suddenly at Wi lkie, Sask., on the 15th inst. and that he would be burie d at Saskatoon, the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. G. Nichol son. The deceased was for many years a respected resident of G ore Bay and had many friends here among the old residents . He was a Mason of many years standing, Collingwood bein g his mother lodge, he was the oldest Mason in the Gore Ba y lodge. The brethren here wired condolence to Mrs. McRea a nd to have a wreath placed on his coffin at the expense o f this lodge. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of Gore Ba y citizens in their sad bereavement. The Recorder, Gore Bay, Thursday, August 21, 1913 Note different spelling of surname in obit. Daniel B. The Recorder, Gore Bay, Thursday, August 28, 1913 Obituary Daniel Bain McRae died suddenly at Wilkie, Sask. on Frida y Aug. 15th in his 71st year. He was born in Glengary Ontar io in the year 1842. When a boy of 19 he went to the Unite d States and served three years during the Civil War takin g part in a number of important battles. In 1868 he married Mary Logan of Stormont. Moving to Onta rio where he engaged in the Lumbering and Milling business . About 12 years ago he became collector of customs at Gor e Bay Ont. which position he held until about 18 months ag o when he and Mrs. McRae moved to the west to be near thei r family. He was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church an d an elder in the Gore Bay church. He was an ardent mason a nd in politics he was a liberal. He leaves a widow, three daughters Mrs. J.H. Nicholson o f Saskatoon, Mrs. R.W. Mutchmor and Miss A.B. McRae of Wilk ie, four sons, Daniel of Toronto, Harrie of Los Angeles, Ca l. Archie of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. and Findley of McLeod A lta. and two sisters Margaret McRae of Toronto, Mrs. W.H. H enderson of Calgary to mourn his loss. Just prior to his de ath he had never been in better health. Death evidently bei ng due to apoplexy. Interment took place at Saskatoon, on Monday August 18th , the funeral being conducted by the Masonic Order. During his short residence in Wilkie, he became highly re spected by all who knew him as he was a man of intelligence , excellent principles and of sterling character.
