    JOHN STRINGER
    The death is reported in the Orangeville Banner of John Str inger in his 91st year. Mr. Stringer was a brother of Jas . Stringer, Little Current and Robt. Stringer, Green Bay.
    The late Mr. John Stringer, died in the township of East Ga rafax at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. Geo. E. Glover, o n Sunday, Jan. 21. Born in Ireland in a little village name d Caledon, County Tyrone, on the 10th day of M ay 1843 an d came to Canada a lad of six years crossing the Atlantic w ith his family on a sailing vessel, named "The Dublin Weave ."The family settled in Osquesing township, afterwards movi ng to what was known as the Black Swamp in Garafax, here th e Senior Stringer with the assistance of his family hewed o ut a home. At that time the road to what is now known as Or angeville was only a blazed path through thewoods. Nine yea rs later Mr. Stringer's father dropped dead leaving him th e eldest of a family of five. In 1875 Mr. Stringer marrie d Miss Sarah Ingraham, who died in 1928. Three sons survive . The late Mr. Stringer was quite active until Dec. 11th wh en he suffered a paralytic stroke but later regained all hi s mental faculties and knew every person until just befor e his death. The funeral was held from the home of his daug hter with interment in Greenwood cemetery, Rev. Robt. Pogue , Orangeville, conducting the service
