    Aaron WALKER, 23, farmer, born Proton Township and Ida Ma y TOMPKINS, 18, born Port Dover, Ontario were married 27 No vember 1895 at the residence of the Revd J. H. McLeod in Go re Bay. Parents of Groom: Aaron Walker and Mary Ann Walker . Parents of Bride: David Tompkins and Hannah Tompkins. Wit nesses: Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Keys, Gore Bay.

    Mrs. May Purdy
    It was with deep sorrow that her circle of neighbours an d relatives learned of the passing of Mrs. May Purdy. Sh e had been in poor health for some time and had gone to Sau lt Ste. Marie for an operation, which was successful and sh e was convalescing at the home of Mrs. Selina Porter. On Tu esday morning she was rushed to the hospital where she wa s stricken suddenly with a stroke from which she failed t o rally and passed away at 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, June 6 th.
    Her sudden passing came as a great shock to her family a nd friends.
    Mrs. Purdy was the eldest daughter of the late Mr.and Mrs . David Tompkins and was born at Port Dover, on July 30th , 1877. She came to Manitoulin Island when four years of ag e and spent her girlhood at Kagawong and Ice Lake. On Novem ber 27th, 1895 she married Aaron Walker who predeceased he r on October 31st 1925. They had four children of which thr ee survive: Clarence and Clifford of Gore Bay and (Pearl) M rs. George Scott of Poplar. Edith died when three years old . She is also survived by one sister (Nettie) Mrs. Angus Mc Dougal of Gore Bay, nine grandchildren and one great gran d child.
    On October 6th, 1931, she married William Purdy of Manito waning and lived there until the death of Mr. Purdy in Dece mber of the same year.
    Services were held Thursday June 7th in Sault Ste. Mari e from Arthur Funeral Home, thence by boat to Gore Bay, whe re a service was held Sunday, June 10th, from Lyon's Memori al United Church, with Rev. W.J.Rayner officiating. Interme nt was made in Gordon cemetery.
    Pallbearers were: Messrs. Fred Smith, R. Robinson, M.R.Th orburn, Alfred Johnson, Frank Baxter and Alex Burns.
