    GOLDEN WEDDING
    Mr. and Mrs. Alex McCauley of Sudbury (formerly of Manitoul in Island) celebrated their golden wedding anniversary wit h a dinner and reception at Cassio's Restaurant in Sudbur y on Saturday, March 16th, with 120 relatives and friends a s guests for the festive occasion.
    The anniversary celebration was organized by the couple's o nly son Ray, his wife Mattie and son David, all of Toronto.
    Fifty years ago, on March 14, 1918, Hannah Monkhouse and Al ex McCauley were married in the Presbyterian Church, Manito waning, Manitoulin Island. Following their marriage, they f armed at Bidwell (Manitowaning, R.R. 1) for 24 years. In 19 42 they moved to Sudbury, where Mr. McCauley began 20 year s of service with Copper Cliff Police Department.
    After his retirement in 1962, he decided he wanted to go ba ck to work...."he was just too young to stop", said Mrs. Mc Cauley, and he was hired by the Canadian Tire Store in Sudb ury where he is still employed.
    Mrs. McCauley enjoys a game of bingo and is very active i n St. Andrew's United Church Women. Mr. McCauley takes grea t pride in gardening and they both enjoy travelling.
    The couple spent their 1967 holiday touring the East Coas t of Canada and the United States and are planning anothe r trip this summer.
    An "at home" was held at their home at 562 Elm Street Wes t on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. McCauley wore a charming nav y blue silk crepe frock and a corsage of pink roses to gree t the many well-wishers who called. Among the many lovely g ifts received was a money tree from their friends on Elm St reet.
    At the dinner in the evening the invocation was given by Re v. S. G. MacQueen of St. Andrew's United Church. The guest s were welcomed by Ray McCauley. A toast to Mr. and Mrs. Mc Cauley was given by their nephew, George Skippen, of Mindem oya, Manitoulin Island, and all the guests joined with bes t wishes.
    Out of town guests for the occasion included the best man o f 50 years, Chester Smith, of Detroit, Michigan, formerly o f Manitoulin Island, and his daughter, Mrs. Margaret Walke r of Sault Ste. Marie, represented her mother, the late Mrs . Florence Smith (Monkhouse) who was Mrs. McCauley's maid o f honor.
    Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Grant Purdy and Sharon o f Bobcaygeon; Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Liscomb of Oakville, Gor d Balson of Newmarket, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Walker, Brenda an d Bruce of the Soo; Mr. and Mrs. E. McGrath and Michael o f Royal Oak, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Smith of Detroit ; Dr. and Mrs. P. D. Armstrong of Stratford and Mr. and Mrs . Arthur Pyette and Ken of Sudbury.
    Guests from the Manitoulin Island included Mr. and Mrs. Ale x McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. John Ingram, Tom Kerr, Mrs. Emma M orrow, Mrs. Edith Wallace, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chatwell, Mr . and Mrs. William Monkhouse, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hughson , all of Manitowaning, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Monkhouse and Jo anne, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Skippen, Lydia Rouse, Sadie McCaule y, Mrs. Eva Wilkin, Mrs. Lou Beatty, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cous ins, all of Little Current.

    McCauley (Monkhouse)
    McCauley-Hannah (Monkhouse) passed away at the Leisure Worl d nursing home in Don Mills, on Sunday, September 8, 1985 i n her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband Alex in 1972 an d by her son Ray in 1980. She is survived by her daughter-i n-law Matti and her grandson David. Funeral service was hel d on Tuesday, September 10, 1985 in Don Mills. Mr. and Mrs . McCauley had farmed for many years in Bidwell, later movi ng to Sudbury, after retirement they moved to Don Mills.
