    A Providence Bay Hero
    Another of those who formerly lived in Providence Bay ha s been called to make the supreme sacrifice on Flanders fie lds. Mr. Latham for a number of years was a resident of Pro vidence Bay. The family removed from here to Owen Sound abo ut nine years ago, Wesley and other members of the family h aving removed previously. He having been for several year s a resident of Owen Sound and he enlisted in the 147th bat talion went over seas in 1916 and was sent to France in 191 7 .
    While in France he contracted trench fever last October a nd was sent to England where he remained under treatment un til last May.
    He was born in Owen Sound and was thirty-two years of age . Before enlisting he had been for eleven years employed a s a marble cutter by Mr. B. A. Williscroft. He was an earne st worker in connection with the Salvation Army which bod y will miss him very much.
    He leaves a wife and three small children have removed fr om Owen Sound to Providence Bay. Mr . Latham was a brothe r of Mrs. Thos. Ellis of this village. Besides his wife an d children, an aged mother, three brothers and two sister s survive. One brother, Russell is in France doing his bit . To these our sympathy reaches out.
    Doing well his soldier's parts.
    Quick of limb and brave of heart
    He triumphed in a glorious fight
    Strongly battle for the Right.
