Name: Bartholomew Jesse CASEY
Birth: ABT 1726 in Roanoke, Va Or Baltimore, MD
Death: 1811 in Old District 96, South Carolina
Change Date: 4 SEP 2016
May have been born in Roanoke, Va.
Jesse grew to manhood in Virginia. He married Pheobe ?. or m Mary ?
They lived in Greene Co, Ga between 1744-48. Two children were born there. [These dates don't seem right because 2 children were born in 1748 & 1749 in Roanoke River Valley, VA]
He moved to Roane, Tn about 1750 where a couple more children were born, then later moved to Spartanburg, SC (District 96) where he died.
He is believed to have served in the Revolutionary War while living in District 96, South Carolina. He fought all through the Revolutionary War (1775-1783).
Jesse is listed with a wife, 4 sons, and 3 daughters in a survey made in the 96th District of South Carolina when he had 100 acres surveyed on the branches of Two Mile Creek, waters of the Enoree River. He is recorded as buying and selling several pieces of land, as being a slaveholder, and having other properties in District 96, Spartanburg County. In the late 1700's, Jesse moved to Tennessee where he is buried in Roane County.
Five Caseys: Aaron, John, Jesse, Moses, and Abner, are all recorded in the 1790 Census as heads of families in South Carolina. Jesse probably died between 1794 and 1800 (abt 1795), since he is not in the 1800 Census.
