    Not sure what the "G" stands for in his and his son's name, but perhaps his father named him "Gravett" for his grandmother.

    They lived in Wayne Co, Tennessee where they were in 1840 & 1850.

    (no other Tatums in the county, but his parents Reuben & Frances were in Lewis Co, TN)
    There was also 2 Pruett families (but not nearby):

    Elias Pruett - 42, b SC with fam (p 270)

    There is a William H. Tatum in the 1850 Stoddard Co, Mo census, Castor twp (where Reuben G. moved to)
    William H. Tatum (age 26, b Va), wife Mary, ch: Adaline (5), Manirva (3), both born in Mo.
    Don't think they are related.

    They moved to Stoddard Co, Mo. in 1855.

    Range 11; 80 acres on Dec 26,1856 and recorded Feb 6, 1857
    Reuben G Tatum and wife bought by warranty deed from Andrew J Berz Lot 32, Twp
    25, Range 11; 80 acres on Oct 21, 1857 and recorded on Oct 21, 1857

    (This must be sec 13, twp 26, range 11, because that is where Solomon G. Kitchen?s lot was on the NE side in the town of Bloomfield, which Kitchen had bought in 1852. Then Kitchen about in 1858 a lot on the SW side of town)

    Reuben died before Feb 1858 without a will. Probated 4 Feb 1858 MO
    Here are notes from the probate record:
    First letters of administrator, Feb. 4, 1858.
    The first record is June 2, 1858, Stoddard Co Mo Book B, p 518. and it is Lucinda Tatum vs Dunkin D. Lennsford, adm of Reuben G. Tatum. Parties appear and the defendant waives the service of a notia herein and the court after hearing testimony judged that said plaintiff recover against defendant $70 for the purpose of purchasing provisions for the use of the family of the deceased for 12 months.
    Book B , p 545 - Lucinda Tatum appointed administrator. Two men were present and a security of $1000 was presented for her.
    July 27, 1874, final settlement. Now at this time comes William G. Tatum, administrator of the estate of Reuben G. Tatum, deceased and presents to the court this final settlement of said estate and is charged with $175.20 and credited with a like amount leaving nothing in the hands of the administor, which settlement is by the court approved and ordered filed.

    In 1860 Lucinda was living in Stoddard Co, Mo (Richland twp, Bloomfield post office, probably near Idalia).
    She had Sheperd and Mary Tatum with her. Next door was her son, William with his (2nd) wife, Mary Ann, and their baby, Matilda.

    J.V.O'Dell, commissioner Lot 5 Twp 24, Range 11; 161 acres May 29,1865 and
    recorded May 29,1865
    Mary E Tatum was given land by Lucinda Tatum, lot 6 Twp 24, Range 11; 40
    acres; Sept 5, 1868 and recorded March 16, 1869
    Shepard B Tatum was given land by Lucinda Tatum, Lot 5, Twp 24, Range 11; 120
    acres; Sept 5, 1868 and recorded Jan 4, 1869

    In 1870 Lucinda McLord/McLard/McSurd (can't decipher census record) was widowed again. She had Mary E. Tatum with her and was living in Elk Creek twp, PO Bloomfield.
