I try to keep my site up-to-date and usually won't have any other information except what is here. My home page also has some pictures of some of the people in my database.

  • ID: I3609
  • Name: Elizabeth COOPER
  • Sex: F
  • Birth: ABT 1673 in Yorkshire, England
  • Death: AFT 1729
  • Note:

Baptized at Low Ellington, Apr 13, 1673.

She came to America with her father and family in 1699 when she was 26 years old. She was still unmarried at the time.

She probably had an illegitimate child with her, Israel Cooper, born Jan 2, 1698, before coming to America with her father and siblings. Her father listed Israel in his will, but not with Elizabeth's 3 Huddleston children. Most likely William took Israel as his own since he was given an equal share with his other children.

When Elizabeth was 28, I believe that William arranged a good marriage for her to his prosperous friend Henry Huddleston, who was 41. Henry was not a Quaker, which caused William trouble with his church, but he probably felt that it was good for his daughter.

One of her sisters may have married a brother of Henry, possibly William.

Her husband Henry died in 1705 and her father William died in 1709. William named his children in his will and gave Israel (11) an equal share, possibly because he raised Israel. He also named Elizabeth's 3 Huddleston children. Israel was 14 when William died. Perhaps he lived with Elizabeth afterwards. He died in 1712 at the age of 14.

Elizabeth married Thomas Davis sometime after 1705.

This deed shows that Elizabeth Cooper Huddleston married Thomas Davis. It also shows that she was alive in 1729.
