Macoupin County was created in 1829.

Benjamin and his son William Owen bought land in Macoupin Co, IL:
EAVES BENJAMIN NWSW 30 12N 6W 3rd meridian IL (this would be in the NE corner of Macoupin County in Virden or Girard twps which split the section of T12N/R6W.)

About 1835 Benjamin moved from Madison Co, Il to Macoupin County and settled in North Otter Township.

He must have made a visit to Tennessee between 1821-32 (probably around 1830) to see his father, since his son, Noah Hampton, who was born in Illinois, seems to have at least met his grandfather, who lived in Tennessee.

    1840 Macoupin Co, IL:
Benjamin was there with his 2 sons, William & Noah -
    Benjamin Eaves 000000001-00101001 - p 66
    Benjamin - 60-70 (Benj-60)
    woman 50-60 (Betsy-59)
    woman 20-30 (probably Jane-30)
girl 10-15 (can't be Susan who married in 1837)

Benjamin died Oct. 23, 1841 while visiting his brother (must be William) in Madison County. He was taken back to Macoupin County for burial.

His brothers, Jonathan & William (along with Jonathan's son Benjamin) were on the 1835 census of Union County, Illinois
    William Eaves - 10010 -- 01000 [This makes him 31-40, b 1795-1804, so he's a brother]
    Jonathan Eaves - 12001 -- 22001 [This makes him 41-50, b 1785-1794, so he's a brother]
Benjamin Eaves - 20100 -- 20600 [This makes him 21-30, b 1805-1814. He could be a brother, but I have that he should be 55, so maybe he's Jonathan's son instead]
    [Legend: males 0-10 / 11-20 / 21-30 / 31-40 / 41-50
    females 0-10 / 11-20 / 21-30 / 31-40 / 41-50]

Union County, IL probate records show Jonathan, William & Benjamin as frequent buyers at estate sales:
July 24, 1835 - Jonathan Eaves at the sales of Elizabeth Lingle's estate
Mar 1, 1837 - Jonathan Eaves at the Wilkerson Godwin estate sale
